A poem first published in Christ In All (CIA) collection Written by Atunbi
What exactly is good in death?
Is it the loss or the pain it metes?
Or the new beginning for the one who left?
What is good in death?
When we lose the holy, our very best.
The cross and the tomb, with shame and dome, him they thought they kept.
He knew better, we know better
That life isn’t always as it seems, and so was his death
The haters’ victory was indeed victory for all time.
Even the prophet didn’t fully comprehend what we found out later.
All battles were won and victory’s stage set.
Free victory, for all to come and buy with no dime.
Yes indeed, what was meant for shame and doom?
Has turned for the best and taken our gloom
Now we bask in glory, by grace we bloom.
It was indeed a good death,
Wounds for Transgressions
Bruise for Guilt and Iniquities
Chastisement for Peace
Stripes for Healing.
And the price was paid in full. Stamp!
It left me with one work – believe
It left me with one purpose – spread the goodnews
Yes! On that day, death was good and one death gave all life.
