ETMGlobal – September 2018(2) – THE WORD OF THE LORD

THE WORD OF THE LORD

4. Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
5. Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet unto the nations.
6. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for you shall go to all that I shall send you, and whatsoever I command you you shall speak.
8. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD.

[Jeremiah 1:4-8]

– Most of us clamour for The Word of The Lord about different areas of our lives but how do we respond to the word when it comes? The fact remains that God always speaks but how we respond to the word and what we do with the word is what matters.

The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah about God’s purpose for his life but Jeremiah had something to say about it. His response was to point out the apparent obstacles to the accomplishment of that word. He qualified himself by his present situation making it a reason why that purpose cannot be fulfilled. God in response to his reasoning said he should not say what he(God) has not said. His focus should be on what God has said not on the limitations within or around him.

When God speaks, though there may be obstacles, he never makes them a condition for which the word he has spoken to us should be fulfilled or not. There’s power in his Word enough to bring to fruition the word that has been spoken. So the focus should be on the spoken word not the circumstances or situations around us. This may sound challenging because the issues seem more real than mere words. We must realise that this world and all in it were framed by the very word of God (Heb 11:3).

The power to bring the Word of God to pass is in the very word that was spoken. Jesus said his word is spirit and life (John 6:63).

Stay edified.
