Understanding Faith (2)
“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should later receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing where he went.”
(Hebrews 11:8)
Faith is not just what you believe but what you do based on what you believe. Faith is spiritual hence the only proof of faith is what you do that people can see. As the writer of the book of James said, “…I will show you my faith by my works.” God doesn’t really need to see what you will do because he knows if you believe or not, but he expects that if you truly believe you will act accordingly.
God recognises faith is in your heart but men will only see the proof of your faith by your actions and results. So you cannot really say you have faith and not show it.
Whereas it is possible to act faith and not have faith. It is also possible to assume you have faith when you don’t. This is because true faith stems from a deep conviction not mere words or actions. If you don’t believe and act you will not get the result of FAITH but if you really believe and act then God is bound to honor his word in your life.
I believe you have been edified.
