ETMGlobal – August 2018(Your True Identity)

And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you? (Acts 19:14)

The demon possessed man questioned the identity of the seven sons of Sceva. The evil spirit could not reconcile their identity with the authority they claim to be acting on behalf of. The position they are claiming is known with people who have a certain identity and they are mere impostors trying to appropriate an authority they are not identified with. Perhaps they thought that just by proclaiming a spiritual terminology automatically makes you what you are not. True identity is spiritual but it reflects outwardly. This is why the demon possessed man could determine their true state.

The scripture passage also shows that it is possible to pay lip service to something that has no foundation in you. But beware there are things in life that will serve as a litmus test to determine who you really are and on the day or reckoning it will be evident.

Your identity is who you really are on the inside not just what you are known by outwardly. That you chant the various Christian mantras does not make you a Christian. The true identity of the child of God is in his/her Christianity. This is the foundation for other things to build upon.

Stay edified.
