Your Citizenship-2 (EM-April 2019)

19. That is, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20.Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
(2Cor 15:19-20)

We are ambassadors for Christ.

An ambassador is one who represents his home country in a foreign land for a specific assignment. Apostle Paul in his second letter to the Corinthians said that we are ambassadors for Christ. This is profound because in verse seventeen of the same chapter he says anyone in Christ is a new creation. Meaning that he/she is a new kind of being. A new species. Understanding this is a key to understanding your true origin. If you knew you were a different kind of being then you would know you must have originated from somewhere else.

Phillipians 3:10 tells us that our citizenship is in heaven, meaning that’s our country of origin. That is where we derive our identity from. We were born from above and not from beneath. He that is born of flesh is flesh and he that is born of the Spirit is spirit (John 1:13, 3:6). Both are not the same and not to be confused.

It’s startling to know that so many scriptures alludes to the reality of our origin yet this is mere information to most Christians and not a reality they walk in. We have become so used to this earth that we unconsciously feel it’s more real than our home of origin. We know there’s a home but we feel it’s a place we’ll go someday. Our previous post highlights this facts. We are already citizens and not going to be.

The Situation

Our case is more like this – we are not from here, we were created to function here but originate from another place. If you grasp this then you will know you are here on an assignment. If you are here on an assignment you will find out what it is and make it your primary focus.

We are on a mission. An important one for that matter. A mission of expanding the Kingdom of God. Remember, we are heaven’s ambassadors and are not living on earth to fulfill our own lusts. We are here to do the Father’s bidding.

Keep edifying your world.
