“For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; as you know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.” (1Thessalonians 1:5)

What is Christianity without the power of the Holy Spirit? Christianity without the power of the Holy Spirit is Christianity not fully expressed. Jesus told his disciple to stay in Jerusalem till they receive the power of the Holy Spirit. He told them that it is so important that without it they cant be effective witnesses for him (Acts 1:8).

Without the Holy Spirit, the Christian doesn’t exist. For the Christian life is birthed by the Holy Spirit and lived by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said in John 3 verse 6, “he that is born of the Spirit is Spirit”. I dare say it is practically impossible to be a Christian without the ministry of the Spirit. When the Holy Spirit came, the disciples received power just like they were told and that became the beginning of a new move of God that would change the story of our world. Now the whole world has access to experience in full the reality of what Jesus spent his years in earth for. Went to the cross for, also died and resurrected for.

As Christians, we must understand the person and ministry of the Spirit. He is the person of Godhead with us now, revealing and fulfilling the ministry of Jesus to us and through us. He is the spirit of God, the power of God and the revealer of the Godhead.

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.” (John 16:7)

If you are a Christian (born again or born of the Spirit) and still do not understand the person of the Holy Spirit and his ministry in your life and through your life, then you have no idea what Christianity is all about. The success of your Christian journey will be determined greatly by how well you know the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the distinguishing factor, he is the one that brings about that difference in your life that makes people know that you are not just an ordinary person. He will make you live a life that is not merely expressed in words but in action.

All that Jesus wanted to achieve could not have been possible without the coming of the Holy Spirit. So desire to know him more then you will see the power of God expressed like never before through your life.
