A Word in Season

“Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man.” (Colosians 4:6)

Our Lord Jesus said we will give account of every idle words we speak in the day of judgement, that means our words are powerful and an important part of our lives as God’s creation. God considers words as being important, not mere sounds and syllables produced from our oral cavity when our emotions sway in any direction.

God said, “For as the rain comes down… So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11)

Every word spoken by God is for a purpose. He doesn’t just speak because he feels like. That tells us our words must be intentional and purposeful and not just uttered for uttering sake. Words are to be spoken for a reason and a purpose. Every word released accomplishes something whether we acknowledge it or not.

Let your words be seasoned with grace. Let it minister life to the hearers. Watch your mouth. Know when to speak and when to keep shut. A word spoken in season is always a blessing to those who hear it. (Proverbs 15:23, Isaiah 50:4)
