It is no news that as we celebrate this season, gifts and pleasantries in different forms, sizes and colors are already exchanging hands all over the world. It is that time of the year where even those who know little or nothing about Christmas join the band wagon because there a general dose of joy in the air as it were.
Have you ever ask yourself, “What is the true emblem of Christmas?” It’s not the fir trees or the snowflakes. It’s not the favorite red, green and golden colors we see on display everywhere.
It is certainly not the colorful balls and stars that adorn the Christmas trees. It is not the gift boxes or decorative flashing lights. It is definitely not Santa with the big white beard and a baritone voice, because he is not the real Father of Christmas as he is fondly called. No need trying to imagine him with a sack of gifts, sitting on his sleigh with the reindeers pulling him along.
The real Father of Christmas is not from the North Pole – He is the Lord from Heaven. The pure gift of God to mankind.
Jesus Christ is the true emblem of Christmas. And we the church are his representatives on earth. We are also the emblem of Christ and Christmas. The person and the reason we celebrate. Keep that focus and don’t let it be stolen from your minds with strange tales and fables manufactured by men’s imaginations.
If we don’t preserve and continuously echo the true meaning and emblem of Christmas, in a few decades from now it will be totally lost in the minds of the generations to come. They may end up not seeing Jesus Christ in Christmas.
You will do well to preserve and pass the right message to your children and children’s children.
